Waterworks by John Angell – June 2023

The Elk Grove Fine Arts Center presents Waterworks by John Angell, an exhibition of Photo-based Encaustic Work, in the Foyer Gallery, June 3-22, 2023. Join us for an opening reception on First Saturday, June 3 from 4-7pm, with an Artist Talk from 5-5:30PM, at 9683 Elk Grove-Florin Rd., Elk Grove 95624. The exhibition continues through June 22, 2023, Wed-Sat 11am-4pm. Free to the public. Water unites us and divides us; it both gives and takes life. It can be calm or ferocious and bring bounty or devastation. Water is essential to life. Waterworks blends his photographic images taken over the past several decades with his more recently found love of the encaustic wax process. Encaustic has a warmth, depth, fluidity and luster that only the wax can bring. Each piece is unique, one-of-a-kind, blurring the lines between painting and photography with strong textural elements.
