The Elk Grove community can give hospital patients a better future by giving blood during Blood Donor Day at the Wackford Community Center on Friday, June 14 from 9am – 7pm. As a special thank you, participants will receive a complimentary ticket to the California State Fair. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs a blood transfusion. Blood donors help patients like Elk Grove resident Bobby Karratti, who was diagnosed with Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS), a rare disease, as a young baby. The only cure for WAS is a marrow transplant, so as Bobby fought to live, blood donations sustained him. Today, Bobby is an active, healthy and happy 7-year-old thanks to the generosity of blood donors. For more information, please call Elizabeth Rolli at 916-453-3045.
